Everything people ask about Maybe, the double or nothing card.

What is Maybe Card?

Maybe Card is a virtual Visa where every purchase is a coin flip for the purchase amount: it comes back free, or it costs double. It is paid in crypto, issued in about a minute, and the flip is settled on the card itself.

What is a double or nothing card?

A payment card where every purchase is a coin flip for the purchase amount. Heads, the purchase comes back free. Tails, it cost double. Maybe is that card: a virtual Visa, with the flip settled on the card.

What exactly happens when I pay?

The merchant is paid from your card as usual. Maybe sees the purchase and flips for the same amount, capped at what is left on the card. Win: that amount is loaded back onto your card. Lose: that amount is taken off your card again. One card, one balance.

Do I need KYC to get the card?

No. Sign up with an email, pay in crypto, and the card is issued in about a minute with no ID, selfie or proof of address. The only trigger for an ID check is connecting a bank account and withdrawing more than €500 in total; crypto-only accounts never see one.

Who holds my money?

Your balance sits on the card, with the card network. Maybe moves flip results on and off it and holds nothing else of yours.

What if my card balance is low?

The flip is capped at what is left on the card after the purchase. At zero, purchases are just purchases. You can also switch flips off on your card page.

Are the odds really 50/50?

Yes, on every purchase, whatever the amount. Double or nothing wins 50% of the time and pays 1:1, so there is no edge in the odds. Maybe charges a flip fee of 5% (minimum $0.75) of the amount in play instead, listed with every other fee. Each flip is decided at the moment of the purchase by a provably fair roll, and every flip is recorded with its roll and a reference.

What does the card cost?

One-time: $49.00 for Blue, the online-only card, $89.00 for Diamond while the founder deal lasts (list $99.00), $199.00 for Don while its founder deal lasts (list $329.00). Per flip: a 5% (minimum $0.75) flip fee (6% (minimum $0.75) on a triple), charged whether the flip lands free or double. Per load: the network's 2% top-up fee. No monthly fee on Blue; Diamond and Don carry the card network's $1 monthly fee. Every fee is listed on the fees page and on the card page before you buy.

Which cards work with Apple Pay?

Diamond and Don. Both can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay, so both work in shops. Blue is an online-checkout card and cannot be added to a phone wallet.

What is triple or nothing?

The Don edition can flip for three. One chance in three the purchase comes back free and the same amount again is loaded on top; two chances in three the same amount comes off the card. It pays 2:1 at odds of 1 in 3, so like the double it has no edge in the odds. You can set any card to double or nothing, or off, at any time; triple is Don only.

Can I switch flips off?

Yes. On your card page, set flips to Off and purchases are just purchases. Switch back on whenever you like.

What are the monthly limits?

Each card has a monthly limit on what is loaded or flipped: $50,000 on Blue, $150,000 on Diamond, $200,000 on Don.

Where does it work?

Blue works at online checkouts only. Diamond and Don work online and, through Apple Pay or Google Pay, in shops. Some merchant categories, such as fuel stations, are not supported by the card issuer. Maybe itself is available in selected countries; we check at sign-up.
